For Palestinians, Netanyahu’s victory is merely a changing of the prison guards:

Benjamin Netanyahu has made an impressive comeback after his ousting in 2021 amid corruption allegations. In this week’s election, his party, Likud, received more votes than any other party and his far-right allies came third, paving the way for a Likud-led coalition government. Although forming a coalition isn’t an easy game – indeed, Netanyahu has failed in the previous four elections to do so – this time he’s expected to form a comfortable majority bloc with ultra-Orthodox and far-right parties.

Yet despite this prospect, for Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza the Israeli elections have not been at the forefront of political discussion, as they continue to resist and fight for their survival on ever-shrinking territory. For them, it’s simply a matter of changing the prison guards – because across the Israeli parties, support for the continued oppression of Palestinians and the colonisation of Palestine is a uniting feature.

Betty McCollum’s H.R. 2590 may finally hold Israel accountable:

…Betty McCollum’s bill is historic. It is the first bill introduced in Congress that would hold Israel accountable for violations of human rights of Palestinians in the West Bank. Conditions that would be established by the bill, which would require end-use restrictions, oversight, and track how Israel ultimately spends US foreign aid, would determine whether the Israeli government and its military used US funds to support the detention, interrogation, abuse, and ill treatment of Palestinian children; and, if confirmed, Israel would be held liable for the abuse and ill treatment of Palestinian children, while the US would be required to limit foreign military aid to Israel.  Here

Will the midterms spell the end of US ‘red lines’ on Israel?

On Nov. 1, Israeli citizens voted in what looks set to be to be the most openly far-right government in the country’s history. On Tuesday, Nov. 8, Americans will also head to the polls, with a slate of far-right candidates poised to win their races across the country. How are these two countries’ elections connected? How have American candidates and lobbying groups used Israel to sink their opponents’ campaigns? And will the different potential outcomes of Tuesday’s elections alter U.S. policy on Israel-Palestine?  Here
