Take Action Today

Friends of Sabeel North America and Veterans for Peace are teaming up to coordinate a 40-day fast for Gaza. Starting on May 22, hundreds of peace activists and advocates across the county will begin their fast with two demands:

1) a resumption of humanitarian aid to Gaza, facilitated by the UN, and,

2) that the U.S. stop arming Israel now!

Those who wish to participate in the fast may participate in person from a centralized fasting location in NYC, or from their local context. Those choosing to fast are asked to commit to 250 calories a day, in line with the general caloric intake of Gazans under the ongoing Israeli military blockade. Actions and advocacy will occur throughout the 40 days, with options to escalate if demands are not met.

The Nakba is not just a historical event but an ongoing reality for Palestinians. This May marks 77 years of Israel’s continuous efforts to try to erase Palestinians from their homeland. As Israel continues its genocidal violence in Gaza and threatens to expel more than 2 million people with the blessing of the Trump administration, Israel’s ongoing Nakba against Palestinians has reached frightening new levels.

On May 14, Rep. Rashida Tlaib–the only Palestinian-American Member of Congress–introduced a historic resolution--H.Res.409--to commemorate the Nakba of 1948 and call for an end to US support for Israel’s ongoing dispossession of the Palestinian people.

We need more Members of Congress than ever before to raise their voices against Israel’s ongoing Nakba.
